Annie is an Inuit artist with disability born and raised in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Her work challenges what you think you know about Inuit artists. Her collection at Lineage Arts titled “Collection of Faces” is a marriage of Inuit symbols and motifs with contemporary, bold lines, as well as colours. She is deeply influenced by some of the original masters of cubism, as well as her Inuit identity.
The simplicity of Inuit drawing inspires all of her work. Her pieces are edgy, unpretentious, and minimal. It is powerful and steeped in the Inuit culture and way of knowing the world, as well as her personal experiences of navigating the world as a disabled, Inuit woman.
